Was the final date intended to be before the earlier dates (second-to-last date was March 2052, but the final date was March 2051)? I assume it is a typo, but I wondered if you were suggesting that dates from that point on were descending?

No it was a typo because I'm dumb lol, thanks for catching this.

"Following the announcement of SapienMind, many believers forsake their allegiance to Yan Luo and EdenMind and return to the resistance. It is thought that EdenMind can not be truly as omniscient or omnipotent as Yan Luo says if it wasn’t able to prevent the construction of an adversary AI."

I read this part and what immediately came to mind was the character from Ted Chiang's short story called Understand. I don't know what it is about this passage that made my brain remember that story. I think it might be the fact that just like SapienMind and EdenMind are competing against each other and do eventually go to war, you have the main character(whose name eludes me) from Understand finding out that he's not just the only one with his special abilities but there's also another person with such abilities out there. And just like in the end, there's some kind of battle between these two characters with the main character losing it.

An aside. I'm a big fan of yours. Love your writing. 🙂

aww thanks ;)

Yes! I love Ted Chiang and that story and I definitely see the connection you are getting at. I read it a long time ago so I think it's time for a revisit, thanks for the reminder :)

I'll plug John Barnes' _Kaleidoscope Century_ again here. AGI = Meme Wars....

That is how a novel is done. You say it happened, then the rails are flocking in great numbers. Paul ot somebody at Counterpunch declared themselves opposed to more scifi. But without imaginations for disaster we are going to be poor company. 2043 is about right. Wishing men can get baiting the master out of their system in the next 2 and a half years. Five years by David Bowie from Zoggy S i backdate to two years ago. Instantiated as an angel AGI? So say we all, leaving a counter place holder for a 8 foot tall human frustrated artist avatar, what else is or who else is angelic?
